
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/17/2009 Superior Ratings , Sweepstakes 1st Danceline 3rd Band Golden River Congratulations Gordon Lee band for an outstanding performance at the Golden River Festival 2009 held at Haralson County High School. Out of 18 bands in classes 1A,2A and 3A, Gordon Lee received Sweepstakes 1st Place Danceline and 3rd Place overall Band for the day. The band received all 1's in ratings. In class 3A the band received 1st place Danceline, 2nd place Percussion, and 3rd places in Drum Major, Colorguard and overall Band. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/3/2009 1st in Class 2nd Overall Armuchee We would like to congratulate the Gordon Lee Marching Band for a strong showing in the 2009 Armuchee Invitational this past weekend. The Drum Majors, Majorette, Danceline, Colorguard, and Band all received superior ratings. There were 13 bands competing in the invitational, most of which were larger schools and/or bands. The Colorguard finished with one of it’s strongest in recent history with third overall for the day. The band was rated best in class against Hiram and Haralson County and received the second highest score of the day regardless of class or division. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/25/2008 2008 Grand Champions Peachstate The Gordon Lee Marching Trojan Band was named the 2008 Grand Champion of the Peach State Marching Band Competition, held October 25 in Rome. The band earned Superior Ratings in all captions. The GLHS Drum Majors, majorette, dance line, percussion, and band all placed first in Class AAA. The Marching Trojans received the Don Everett Award for Musical Excellence for earning the highest music score of the day and the Thomas Eugene Inglis Grand Champion Award for posting the overall highest score of the day. This is the fifth time Gordon Lee's band has won the Peach State Grand Championship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/18/2008 Best in Class at 2008 Golden River Marching Festival The Gordon Lee band competed in the 2008 Golden River Marching Festival at Haralson County High School on October 18 and took best in class honors in all captions. The Drum Majors, majorettes, dance line, color guard, drum line, and band all received Superior ratings from the judges, and out-scored all other groups in their class. Additionally, the dance line had the highest score of the day and majorette Sarah Cash tied for the highest score in her area. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09/27/2008 Band Best In Class AAA Choo Choo Classic The GLHS Marching Trojan Band competed in the 2008 Choo Choo Classic at Hixson High School on September 27 and was rated best in class for Class AAA. The band and percussion received Superior ratings while the Drum Majors and auxiliary units received Excellent ratings. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/27/2007 AAAA Championship at Peachstate The Gordon Lee Band takes 2007 AAAA Championship and finishes 2nd Place Overall Sweepstakes at the 34th Annual Peach State Marching Festival in Rome, GA. The band received Superior ratings for Drum Majors, Majorettes, Danceline, Colorguard, and Band. And an Excellent rating for the Drumline. The Danceline and Majorettes finished 1st in Class AAAA and are Overall Sweepstakes Champions. The Colorguard, and Drumline finished 2nd in Class AAAA. And Drum Majors finished 3rd in Class AAAA. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/20/2007 AAAA 2nd Place at 2007 Golden River Marching Festival Superior ratings for Drum Majors, Danceline, Colorguard, Drumline, and Band. And an Excellent rating for Majorettes at the 2007 Golden River Marching Festival. The Colorguard and Majorettes finished 3rd in Class AAAA while the Danceline finished 1st in Class and 1st Place Overall Sweepstakes. The Band finished 2nd place in class AAAA and 4th Place Overall Sweepstakes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09/29/2007 Band Best In Class honors all captions at Bowdon Invitational The Gordon Lee band competed in the 2007 Bowdon Invitational Band Contest on September 29 and took best in class honors in all captions. The drum majors, majorettes, dance line, color guard, drum line, and band all received Superior ratings from the judges, and out-scored all other groups in Class AAAA. Additionally, the drum majors and dance line each won first-place Sweepstakes trophies as best in the entire competition, and the majorettes, color guard, drum line, and band captured second-place Sweepstakes awards. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GLMS concert band rated Superior The Gordon Lee Middle School seventh and eighth grade band students received a superior rating from all four judges at the Georgia District VII band performance evaluation event held March 14 at Pepperell High School in Rome. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GLHS concert band rated Superior The Gordon Lee High School concert band received a superior rating from all four judges at the Georgia District VII band performance evaluation event held March 13 in Rome. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Human selected to All-State Band GLHS freshman Chris Human has been selected to the 2007 Georgia All-State Band. Chris is the first chair contrabass clarinet in the ninth and tenth grade band. He traveled to Savannah on March 1-3 for the All-State activities and concert. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Five chosen as All-District Josh Bloodworth and Cory Flynn were selected to the 2006-2007 All-District Band for 11th & 12th graders. Chris Daniel, Beth Hicks, and Chris Human were selected to the 2006-2007 All-District Band for 9th & 10th graders. Flynn, Human, and Adrian Taber also qualified for the finals of the All-State selection process. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations to all the middle school band students that tried out for All State and All District. Tyler Veal and Alex Pilgram have qualified for the finals of All State to take place in Jan. 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/28/06 Best in Class AAAA - Peachstate 2006 The Marching Trojans are the Class AAAA Champions of the 33rd Annual Peach State Marching Festival held on Oct. 28th, 2006 in Rome, GA. Also receiving 1st Place honors were: Drum Majors Megan Gaither and Jamie McNabb , the GL Majorettes, and the GL Danceline. The Colorguard received a 2nd Place finish and the Drumline received a 3rd Place finish. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/21/06 - Band Receives Superior Ratings and First In 4a Champonship at Golden River They received Superior ratings for Drum Majors, Majorettes, Danceline, Colorguard, Drumline, and Band at the 2006 Golden River Marching Festival at Haralson Co. HS. Drum Majors, Majorettes, Danceline, Colorguard, Drumline, and Band Placed 1st In Class and were AAAA Champions. Drum Majors were 1st place Sweepstakes Overall, Majorettes were 1st Place Sweepstakes Overall, Danceline was 1st Place Sweepstakes Overall, Colorguard was 2nd Place Sweepstakes, Drumline was 2nd Place Sweepstakes Overall, and Band was 2nd Place Sweepstakes Overall with a final score of 94.8 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/07/06 - Band receives top honors at 2006 Yellow Jacket Marching Festival in Rockmart Georgia Gordon Lee finished 2nd Place Sweepstakes overall with Superior ratings in Drum Majors, Majorettes, Danceline, Colorguard, Drumline, and Band. All four judges gave the Gordon Lee Band the highest rating possible in each of the seven judging areas for their performance March 15th at Woodland HS Performance Center. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01/23/06 - Suggs chosen for All-State Middle School Band Ethan Suggs selected to the 2006 Georgia Middle School All State Band. Ethan is only the second middle school student from Gordon Lee to ever be selected to the All State Band. And he is the only trombone to ever be selected to the All State Band from Gordon Lee. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01/17/06 - David Bailey chosen for All State Band David Bailey has been chosen to the 2006 Georgia All-State band. Bailey, a senior trumpet player, was also an All-State performer in 2004 and 2005. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/22/05 - Congratulations to our band for a wonderful performance at the 2005 Peach State Marching festival Superior ratings for Drum Major, Majorettes, Danceline, Drumline, and Band. Excellent rating for Colorguard. 2nd place Drum Majors in Open Class. 1st Place Majorettes in Open Class. 1st Place Danceline in Open Class. 3rd Place Colorguard in Open Class. 3rd Place Drumline in Open Class. 3rd Place Band in Open Class. 1st Place Overall for Majorettes and Danceline. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/15/05 - Band gives great performance at Golden River The GLHS Drum Majors, majorettes, danceline, color guard, percussion, and band all received Superior ratings at the Golden River Contest held at Haralson County High School on October 15. Each group also received the first in class award for Class AAAA. The danceline and majorettes finished second in the overall sweepstakes competition, while the Drum Majors were third overall, and the band fourth overall.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/08/05 - GLHS Band is Grand Champion at Warrior Invitational The Gordon Lee Marching Trojan Band was named the 2005 Grand Champion of the Warrior Invitational Marching Festival, held October 8 at Gordon Central High School. The Drum Majors, danceline, color guard, percussion, and band all received Superior ratings. The majorettes received an Excellent rating. First place in Class AAAA went to the GLHS Drum Majors, majorettes, danceline, percussion, and band. The color guard placed second in their class. The Drum Majors, danceline, and band took home First Place Overall Sweepstakes trophies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09/24/05 - Marching Trojans superior at Pickens The GLHS Marching Trojan Band received all superior ratings at the Georgia Marble Marching Festival held Saturday, September 24 at Pickens County High School. The Drum Majors were selected Best in Class in Class AAAA. Finishing second in Class AAAA were the band, percussion, majorettes, and danceline. The color guard was third in their class. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01/01/05 - Marching Trojans grab Sugar Bowl title The Gordon Lee Marching Trojans placed 1st in the AA Classification at the Sugar Bowl Field show competition held in New Orleans, La., on January 1, 2005. Others awards received were: Most Outstanding Drum Majors Most Outstanding Auxiliary unit (majorettes, dance line, and color guard) Most Outstanding Percussion Most Outstanding Marching and Maneuvering Most Outstanding Music Most Outstanding General Effect The Gordon Lee band then performed with the 16 other participating bands during the pre-game and halftime of the Nokia Sugar Bowl game held on January 3, 2005. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/11/04 - Bailey, Self selected to All-State band David Bailey and Brandon Self have been chosen to the 2005 Georgia All-State band. Bailey, a junior trumpet player, was also an All-State performer in 2004. Self, a senior, is the only tuba player from North Georgia to be selected to the All-State band this year.Being in the All-State band is the highest level a high school instrumentalist can reach. Bailey and Self will travel to Savannah in the spring to perform with the elite group -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/23/04 - Marching Trojans second at Peach State The GLHS Marching band competed in the Peach State Marching Festival on Saturday, October 23. The band received superior ratings for Drum Majors, Majorettes, Colorguard, Danceline, Drumline, and Band. The Marching Trojans placed second in the AAAA classification and second in the overall Sweepstakes. The Marching Trojans placed second in the AAAAA classification and fourth in the overall Sweepstakes.
