Mr. Haynes is a native of Rossville, Georgia and 1999 Graduate of Gordon Lee High School.
He attended Jacksonville State University where he earned a degree in Music Education. While
at JSU, he studied clarinet with Mr. Mark Brandon and piano with Dr. Gail Steward. He was
involved in many ensembles including the Marching Southerners, Chamber Winds, Wind Ensemble, and
Clarinet Choir. He holds membership in Music Educators National Conference, Georgia Music
Educators Association, National Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Haynes
has been band director of Gordon Lee’s band since 2008.
He was married in 2002 to Mrs. Sheila (Huston) Haynes of Childersburg, Alabama. Sheila is a
graduate of the music department of JSU as well, and is active as a clarinet instructor and
private tutor. They have two children, Brayden age three and Mason age one. They currently
attend Lake Drive Baptist Church in Sale Creek, Tennessee where he serves as choir director.
